Assessment
Firstly, an extremely thorough assessment will be undertaken. Your Physiotherapist will ask you some questions about your problem and will listen to you! Time is taken to establish the history of your problem and how it affects your function and daily lifestyle. This is followed by a thorough physical examination of the region of your pain, your posture, movements, joints, muscles and nerves.
Diagnosis & Education
An accurate diagnosis and the causes of your pain or injury will be explained clearly and simply. No medical jargon! It is very important that you understand your injury in order to be able to overcome it. Your therapist will discuss likely timeframes, outcomes and prognosis for your injury.
Treatment & Rehabilitation
Treatment may involve a wide range of physiotherapy, osteopathic and chiropractic manual therapy techniques, combined with other treatment mediums such as massage, mobilisations, craniosacral & visceral manipulations, acupuncture (dry needling), taping and a home exercise therapy program to address your pain or dysfunction. This ensures we are effective in alleviating your pain but also in treating the underlying soft tissue, joint or nerve dysfunction that is the reason for your symptoms.
How much Treatment will I need?
Your Physiotherapist will discuss the most effective management for your pain or injury and provide you with an estimate of the number of treatments required for your problem and expected responses to treatment.
Unfortunately we cannot provide you with any specific guidelines until we have assessed your situation as all clients and injuries are different, however most acute musculoskeletal conditions can be successfully treated within 1-4 visits. Your therapist will communicate with you every step of the way and answer ALL your questions!
